KOA Flatwoods

A secluded off the interstate campground. It is attached to the Days Inn which you register at before going into the campground. Since it is below the hill you miss the sound of the traffic on I-79 KOA Flatwoods

Sites are large in size with all amenities. Padded picnic area for every site, beautiful firepits. We used this site as quick stop home but was impressed with the price and quick area.

Days Inn attached as a dining room, pub and nice pool area.

We stayed in site 8. An added bonus gas prices in this town were the cheapest we have seen in West Virginia

Cincinnati KOA

This is a new park for the KOA Cincinnatinorth of Cincinnati in Lebanon .  It was previously a campground and has been upgraded to the KOA standards.  Quiet, lovely park in mint condition.

We stayed in site 23 with electric and water and cable. They have many sites to full hookups. The Wifi was excellent.

Pigeon Forge

Kings Holly Haven RV Park in Pigeon Forge has variety of sites that are seasonal and nightly.  Great Location to Pigeon Forge activites.  The trolly goes by the park and is easy to find and will take you to many locations.

The sign to the park is somewhat hidden.  Located beside dollar store

There is a swimming pool and laundromat available.  The sites do not have firepits  Great for night to stay to see the sites in the area but not a great park to stay and enjoy the site.

About a mile walk into the “strip” of Pigeon Forge.  There is a great brewpub smokey mountain brewery

KOA Nashville

Located at 2626 Music  Valley Drive, Nashville, TN this campground is a perfect place to visit the Grand Ole Opry.  While not walkable due to the road is busy and no sidewalk it is within 2 miles.  It is also located right next door to a camping world.

This is a top of the line KOA with all amenities.   It is big rig friendly and can take rigs up to 102 long.  We did see some very long rigs fit with no problem in sites.  I would recommend reservations as it is very busy.

They do have a bus that comes to the campground to downtown and tours available that pick up at the campground.

Very nice pool area with a hot tub.

They do have free wifi but it is very slow with so many campers.

Sampson State Park

We have stayed here a few times.  It was an old military  base that is now a 2000 acres state park including day use, marine park and campground.

The store has a great restaurant and area for supplies that you forgot.  It is near winerier, chee

We always prefer water sites and have been lucky to get on all occasions.  Site 222 is the site most people think is the best.  This is site 232 at Sampson state park

Backus Mill buildings

Camping site 5

Our first time camping at Backus Mill but not our first time exploring.  Backus Mill conservation area has a full area of the past.  From a church, building from the war of 1812 and more.  Unfortunately the building are only open in the summer and we arrived in May.

The campground is well kept up even with the seasonal campers.  There were no refrigerators on sites outside and the yards were all beautifully landscaped.

The campground is not laid out well though.  The spots on the map do not totally correspond to the sites.  They seem to be all over the place.

There is very little sites with electrical outlets due to the seasonal taking most.  Some have water hookup too.

They do have a lot of sites without services.

The firepits are poor with the sides too tall for the fire to burn well

FIREWOOD:  scored well here just outside the campground straight half a cord is only $30.00 and it is nice hard wood

Close to long point and Port Rowan

There are very friendly at the park.  Lots of hiking trails in the park for enjoyment

Long Beach Conservation

3 1 2 5 6 7 8 10 11

This was our first trip to this conservation area.  It has potential to be great but due to the seasonal camping has let the park left looking like second hand camping.

Over half of the seasonal had refrigerators outside on their deck that looked old and beaten up.

They are to cut their own grass so some is cut some is long and bare.

The fire pits have no rings and our spot had 4 or more spots where people had burn their fires.

There is no particular spot to park your trailer so everyone has gone in different way making the grasses look unruly

There was no sign were the dump station but found it near the washrooms.

On a great note the staff is super friendly so are the seasonal people.  Recycling is the best we have seen.  The beach is very nice as well.

The spots not on the lakeside are actually nicer than the lakeside

Firewood:  We were not lucky with firewood the local store was expensive, the campground wood was just regular price.  Most of the seasonal people had a cord sitting around

Port Colborne is close and a very pretty town.  There was a brewery close as well

Dunnville is the same distance the other way from long beach. There is a farmers market on Saturday.

We biked the trail and walked at the conversation area nearby.  It was in bad shape and had lots of ticks
